Donations from Twopresents celebrations went towards funding Numicon multi-sensory tools that are extremely effective in teaching children with individual needs the abstract concept of numbers. Numicon, a multi-sensory approach to arithmetic teaching using patterns that are structured, encourages the understanding of number relationships. This particular teaching tool has been on our charity partner, The Child Development Centre’s (CDC’s) wish list for some time, but could not be purchased due to lack of funding. Now thanks to our users, CDC is able to provide children with much needed math training in their various group programs and individual sessions.
Since September of 2018, the Numicon resources have already helped over 150 kids with their learning, this will help even more children in the future and the benefits are extensive and long lasting!
CDC provides early educational programs, assessments, therapies and related services to children with individual needs and their families. In the 2016/17 school year, CDC served over 400 children by providing 1,780 hours of group programs and 1,577 hours of individual therapy. For more information visit www.cdchk.org
